Advantix spot on dogs
Advantix is a simple remedy that helps protect your dog's health.
Advantix offers broad protection against parasites, protects against the risk of transmission of leishmaniasis and acts against flea larvae in the home after application to the animal.
Parasites such as fleas, ticks, lice and flying insects are not just a nuisance: they can cause allergic reactions and dermatitis with secondary bacterial infections and can even transmit diseases or other parasites!
Advantix for dogs is a spot-on antiparasitic (in drops for external use) specifically for dogs that offers broad protection against fleas, ticks, mosquitoes, sandflies, lice and horse flies. Advantix is a product containing two active ingredients, which acts as an antiparasitic with insecticidal and acaricidal action and as a repellent. The repellent effect acts on parasites before they can bite.
Key Benefits:
- For the prevention and treatment of flea and tick infestations. Care should be taken to avoid the contents of the pipette coming into contact with the eyes or mouth of treated dogs.
- As a mosquito and sandfly repellent for dogs. Reduces the risk of transmission of diseases such as leishmaniasis. Also effective if the dog gets wet.
- If stored correctly, use of Advantix can be started at any time up to the expiry date shown on the label (which indicates the last day of that month), to which is added the period of activity of the product, which begins from the moment the contents are applied to the animal.
Advantix Antiparasitic For Dogs: How To Apply It?
How does it work?
Advantix contains two active substances: imidacloprid and permethrin.
Imidacloprid is an ectoparasiticide active against adult fleas and flea larval stages. Adult fleas are killed rapidly before they can bite, and those already on the dog are killed within one day of treatment. In addition to the adulticidal activity of imidacloprid against fleas, a larvicidal action in the surrounding environment has been demonstrated after application to the animal. Advantix is also indicated for the treatment of lice.
Permethrin belongs to the class of pyrethroids and also acts as a repellent. Permethrin has an acaricidal and repellent activity towards parasites such as ticks, mosquitoes and sandflies (or phlebotomine sandflies) preventing them from biting and thus reducing the risk of transmission of diseases transmitted by these parasites such as leishmaniasis, a very serious disease that sandflies or phlebotomine sandflies can transmit to dogs through bites. Advantix repels ticks before they can bite and kills those that have come into contact with the skin reducing the risk of transmission of Ehrlichiosis, Borreliosis and Rickettiosis carried by tick bites. It provides repellent activity towards the horse fly helping in the prevention of fly bite dermatitis.
Imidacloprid has been shown to act synergistically to increase the efficacy of permethrin.
It is easy to administer thanks to the topical application (spot-on). In addition, it remains effective if the dog's fur occasionally gets wet.
Remember! Advantix is not suitable for cats and should only be used on dogs.
Frequently Asked Questions about Advantix™
1. What is the difference between a spot-on flea treatment and oral flea treatments?
A topical treatment (spot-on) is applied to the skin and coat to eliminate fleas and ticks on dogs and works by contact. In orally administered antiparasitics, the parasites must necessarily bite the dog and suck its blood to ingest the active ingredient and die.
2. Can children pet the dog after applying Advantix?
Treated dogs should not be handled until the product application site is thoroughly dry.
3. Why might a product that repels ticks as well as eliminates them be useful?
Using a treatment that repels ticks and eliminates them reduces the risk of these parasites nesting on the dog. This in turn reduces the risk of disease transmission.
4. Can Advantix be used on cats?
No. Advantix is safe for dogs, but is very dangerous for cats due to their specific physiology and inability to metabolize certain substances.
5. Can Advantix be used on dogs if there is also a cat at home?
If cats live in close contact with dogs or lick them, keep them separated after applying Advantix to dogs until the application site is dry.
